The Port Hedland Town Council approached Jupps Tile Boutique Port Hedland to create a mosaic art piece to acknowledge the presence of the flat back sea turtle at Cemetery Beach and bring some life to the new lookout point at the centrepiece of the Port Hedland Foreshore.
The master piece was created with the skill of local master tiler Greg Quanchi, with the eyes sculpted from Glass and Dichroic metal by his wife Linda.
Assisting in the scope and organisation was Christy Thomas from the Town of Port Hedland.
The vitrified porcelain tiles supplied by Tile Boutique took approximately 2 weeks to hand shape and create and set into the newest feature of the Port Hedland Foreshore.
The project was taken on by Jupps Tile Boutique Port Hedland and agreed at a cost only, not for profit basis. As the project matured and grew in scope - Jupps have donated significantly at their own cost to maintain the vision and present the result found at the lookout today.
